BLACK IS BACK by Cheryl Sandella

BLACK IS BACK!

The color black always makes a statement when used in design.  Its high drama and bold looks will always draw attention.  Now black is making its way back into the kitchen and bath.  Some of the new designs will feature a matte finish instead of the glossy finish we’re used to seeing.

While black fixtures add drama to your décor it also adds high maintenance.  I know this first hand as I have a gorgeous black powder room detailed with a black granite floor and wainscot and a black toilet.  I offset the darkest of the black with a casted glass custom sink/vanity and chrome Hansgrohe faucet.  The wall sconce and hanging pendant are in chrome and white glass.  The walls are faux painted in fuchsia and the black tile wall border is highlighted with glass inserts.  This room is mainly used for guests but I have to clean it daily because of the dust that the black floor and toilet attract.  The black toilet demands the most cleaning.  Although it is high maintenance I still love the look and don’t regret doing it.

Take a look at some of the new “looks” in black…
